The Youth Employment Service (YES) – X4 (Peaking) placement at Ingula Pumped Storage Scheme is part of South Africa’s national YES initiative aimed at empowering unemployed youth through quality 12-month work experiences. In this role, participants were placed at Eskom’s Ingula facility, where they supported operations during high-demand (peaking) periods. Duties typically included assisting with plant maintenance, logistics coordination, and administrative support in a high-performance energy environment. The programme provided hands-on technical exposure, professional development, and monthly stipends to enhance future employability in the energy and engineering sectors.

Responsibilities

• The Youth Employment Service (YES) is part of the public-private initiative lead by the Presidency, to address the youth unemployment crisis in our country
• Eskom is creating work opportunities for unemployed youth in South Africa
• We invite young South Africans, who are hungry to enter the job market, to get a chance at a life-changing first work experience in our exciting energy industry

Qualifications

• Must be a South African Citizen
• Aged between 18 to 34
• Grade 12 or equivalent and/or post matric certificate/programme
